Cars Covered: Golf 1999-2002 Jetta 1999-2002 & some Passat 1998-2002
Items required: Metra 70-1784, Metra 71-9003, Metra 40-eu20, Metra 40-vw12
Optional Items : Enfig - VW V3TOV5 is you have a CD changer or aftermarket interface with the single-din radio.
Tools required: Wire stripper, Electrical Tape.

Radio does not turn on and off with the key

Dimmer does not work, light comes on and stays at same level.

You have to purchase 2 pairs of Metra -86-9001 radio removal keys.

You have to purchase the Metra 70-1784 & Metra 71-9003 .

Then you have to purchase the Metra 40-eu20 and Metra 40-vw12.

You also have to purchase the Enfig - VW V3TOV5 is you have a CD changer or aftermarket interface with the single-din radio.

Connect the speaker wires.

Then connect the power wires .

Connect the Metra 40-VW12 into the 10-EU20

This is what your radio should look like. (this is in a golf or jetta the passat will look a little different)

Insert the metra 86-9001 radio removal tool into the slot in the radio until it clicks.

Do the same for the slot on the other side.

Press on the side of the radio where the white line is to release the keys on both sides.

Press the tabs on the side of the black and brown tabs to remove the main harnesses.

Press the tab on the side of the blue connector to release the CD changer harness. The green one is for steering wheel controls so your car might not have it.

Remove the antenna wire from the radio by pulling straight back.

Line up the connector as shown and open the hinge on the connector as shown by the white line.

Insert the connector into the back of the double din radio and push down on the hinge until it locks into place.

Connect the antenna adapter into the radio as shown.

Connect the other ends of the harness into the car as shown

Place the radio into the dash as shown and insert the radio code. Button one controls the first number , button 2 controls the second number and so on. Push and hold seek up until the radio display comes on.

Gently push in the radio until it locks in place.
